List medicines, home treatments, previous appointments and how each affected the problem.
Explain whether you need symptom relief, preventive care, medication follow-up, testing, forms or a referral.
How to use the Amity Medical Group patient portal
Amity directs established patients to an athenahealth portal for secure communication, account access and online payment. The portal can be used at any time, although staff responses still depend on office availability and clinical urgency.
Use the portal for routine patient messages that do not require emergency action.
Review the patient account and use the payment option after confirming the patient and balance.
The portal remains available outside the clinic’s normal telephone hours.
Adult primary care and internal medicine at Amity
Amity provides patient-centered adult primary care and internal medicine. Primary care is generally appropriate for preventive visits, routine illness, medication management and coordination. Internal medicine can be especially useful when an adult has several chronic or medically complex conditions.
Routine examinations, screening discussions, immunizations and health-risk review.
Ongoing management of diabetes, hypertension, respiratory illness, thyroid problems and other long-term concerns.
Medication review, outside-record evaluation, specialist referrals and follow-up after testing or hospitalization.

Prepare for a child’s appointment
HIV care, PrEP, PEP and medication assistance
Amity provides comprehensive HIV treatment, prevention and post-exposure care for patients age 13 and older at three Charlotte-area locations. Its team includes clinicians with HIV-specialist credentials, and eligible patients may receive free HIV testing.
Pre-exposure prophylaxis is medication taken before a possible exposure to reduce the chance of acquiring HIV.
Amity’s Mecklenburg County program may cover PrEP-related visits and testing for qualifying uninsured county residents.
Post-exposure prophylaxis is medication started after a possible HIV exposure to reduce the chance of infection.
PEP is time-sensitive. Contact a clinician, urgent care or emergency department promptly rather than waiting several days for a routine appointment.
HIV treatment supports health and can reduce the amount of virus to an undetectable level.
Treatment as prevention is the basis of U=U: undetectable equals untransmittable through sex when viral suppression is maintained.
Programs that may reduce HIV-care costs
| Program | Who it may help | What it may cover or coordinate |
|---|---|---|
