Navigate Hickam Clinic From Appointment to Pharmacy Without Losing a Day to the Wrong Queue
The 15th Medical Group – Hickam Clinic is an outpatient military treatment facility at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. It provides primary care and supporting services for eligible military beneficiaries, but each clinic has its own eligibility, appointment, referral, lunch-break and walk-in rules.
This page brings those rules together: who gets appointment priority, how to use MHS GENESIS, where dependents and active duty members receive primary care, how pharmacy activation works, when a referral should move to Tripler or the network, and what to do when Hickam cannot provide the care you need.
755 Scott Circle, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, HI 96853-5399.
Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., with department exceptions.

MHS GENESIS for appointments, messages, records and prescription refills.
Not available at Hickam Clinic. Emergency care is off-site.
Which Hickam medical route should you use?
Use primary care for routine illness, chronic-condition follow-up, preventive care, medication questions and the first evaluation of a problem that may need specialty treatment.
When Hickam is closed and the concern is not an emergency, use the local after-hours line or the MHS Nurse Advice Line. They can help determine the appropriate level of care.
Life-threatening illness, severe injury, serious mental-health emergency, loss of consciousness, severe breathing trouble or threats to life, limb or eyesight require emergency care.
Who gets appointment priority at the 15th Medical Group?
Not every TRICARE beneficiary or person working on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam has the same appointment priority. Department of Defense access rules affect whether routine care is guaranteed or available only when capacity remains.

Hickam Pediatrics: ages, well visits, acute care and walk-ins
The Pediatrics Clinic serves children from newborn through age 14. Its schedule separates many well-child visits from sick visits to reduce unnecessary exposure between healthy and ill children.
Routine checks begin shortly after birth and continue through infancy, toddler years and annually as the child grows.
The clinic schedules acute visits and aims to handle many short-notice concerns, but it does not have urgent-care capabilities.
Annual sports physical requirements can often be completed during the child’s normal well visit.
Published pediatric walk-in procedures
| Service | Rule | Useful preparation |
|---|---|---|
| Sore-throat swab | The child must meet clinical criteria before rapid testing and culture. | Know when symptoms began, fever history and known exposures. |
| Weight check | Available for enrolled patients when advised by their provider. | Bring any feeding or growth instructions previously provided. |
| Suture or staple removal | Removal occurs only after the recommended amount of healing time. | Bring discharge paperwork showing the placement date and instructions. |
| Wart treatment | A provider must first evaluate the wart before walk-in treatment. | Do not assume the first visit will be treatment-only. |

Building 559 contains multiple departments, so a department name alone may not be enough.
A newly submitted prescription still needs activation before pharmacy processing.
Several Hickam departments close for recurring training.
Lab, dental, referrals and individual clinics can stop earlier.
Primary care assignment affects appointments, referrals and which clinic should answer your question.
If no scheduling contact follows, call the Hawaii Referral Center rather than starting the referral again.
It is the pharmacy’s preferred activation workflow for new and renewed prescriptions.
Tell the front desk at check-in when school, sports or other forms need provider completion.
Hickam has no ER; emergency symptoms require a different destination immediately.
Correct enrollment and contact information reduces avoidable access and referral problems.
