87th Medical Group 2026: Appointments, Pharmacy & Portal

JB MDL patient guide · Appointments, pharmacy, referrals, records and readiness

Navigate the 87th Medical Group Without Missing a Closure, Order or Authorization

The 87th Medical Group operates the McGuire Ambulatory Care Facility at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. It supports a joint military community that includes Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, retiree and eligible family populations.

This guide explains what the clinic can handle, when to use same-day care, how to book through MHS GENESIS, how military pharmacy activation works, which services require an order or referral, and what to check before entering the installation.

No on-base urgent care or emergency department: Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst does not provide emergency-room or urgent-care services. Call 911 for a potentially life-threatening condition. Call the MHS Nurse Advice Line at 800-874-2273 when the concern is not life-threatening but you are unsure where to receive care.
Important distinction: The weekday same-day acute-care line is a limited primary-care service for eligible enrolled patients. It is not a replacement for civilian urgent care or an emergency department.

Start with the correct care level

Which 87th Medical Group care option should you use?

ROUTINE OR ONGOING CARE Book primary care

Use Family Health, Pediatrics or Flight Medicine for preventive visits, chronic-condition care, medication management, referrals, routine follow-up and symptoms that do not require immediate evaluation.

Start through MHS GENESIS or call 866-377-2778.
RECENT NON-EMERGENCY PROBLEM Use same-day acute care

Eligible enrolled TRICARE Prime patients age 12 and older may use the weekday walk-in line for selected recent illnesses and minor injuries.

Flyers do not use this line. They report to Flight Medicine.
LIFE, LIMB, SIGHT OR SAFETY Call 911

Do not travel to Building 3458 for chest pain, severe breathing trouble, major trauma, sudden vision loss, uncontrolled bleeding, loss of consciousness or another serious emergency.

Use emergency services immediately when delay could be dangerous.
Simple rule: Routine care goes through your assigned clinic, listed recent problems may qualify for same-day acute care, and emergencies require 911 or a civilian emergency department.

Practical tips that can prevent repeat trips and delays

01
Check the Thursday date

First and third Thursday readiness training affects the main facility and several departments.

02
Activate before driving

A civilian electronic prescription must be activated and processed before pickup.

03
Bring the signed order

Outside laboratory and X-ray requests need a proper signed physical order.

04
Confirm base access

A medical appointment does not replace installation identification and visitor rules.

05
Verify referral details

Check the approved provider, location, visit count and expiration date before civilian care.

06
Bring civilian records back

Outside treatment notes are especially important for flight, readiness and duty-status review.

07
Keep DEERS current

Outdated household information can interfere with enrollment, portal access and claims.

08
State your duty status

Active duty, flyers, dependents, retirees and Reserve personnel may follow different care paths.

09
Save Building 3458

Use the exact Neely Road address instead of searching only for the large joint base.
